b'MORRIS KAHN Morris Kahn was born in South Africa in 1930. At the age of 26, he realized his dream and made Aliya with his wife, Jacqueline, and their two young sons, David and Benjamin. A serial entrepreneur, Morris is recognized for his large-scale and diversified business activities, which have contributed significantly to the development of the Israeli economy and created thousands of jobs. Morris is also a serial philanthropist who uses his wealth and influence to strive to improve the world through investments in life sciences, clean tech ventures, and humanitarian projects. Morris first major business success came in 1968 when he established Israels Golden (Yellow) Pages. A decade later, in 1978, he co-founded The Aurec Group, the private equity firm that quickly became a trailblazer in the Israeli media market. Aurec would go on to establish other pioneering industries, including Golden Channels, Golden Lines, and Golden Wheels. The development of advanced billing software at Golden Pages led Mr. Kahn to form Amdocs, one of Israels best known high-tech companies, in 1982. Morris business interests were not all focused on communication and technology. Being an avid diver, he opened the worlds first underwater observatory in Eilat in 1974. This represented both a colossal engineering feat and a revolutionary concept that his company Coral World International would later export to other countries. A storied business leader, Morris is also an inspiring philanthropist. I tend to support projects that are in their beginning stages, said Morris. It inspires me to be part of the process and to see how they grow. I dont just write the check. He is a major supporter of the National Institute for Biotechnology in the Negev and established the Morris Kahn & Maccabi Health Data Science Institute. He also supports, among others, developing youth leadership through LEAD, cutting-edge cancer stem cell research, making cataract and trachoma surgery accessible to Ethiopian villagers, running a summer camp for children with terminal diseases, operating a therapeutic horseback riding center for the disabled, and funding Save a Childs Heart, an Israeli-based humanitarian project for children from developing countries. His love of space and his dream of Israel being the fourth country to land on the moon led Morris to become the first and main donor of SpaceIL. He currently serves as its Chairman of the Executive Committee and Assembly Member General. Alongside his business and philanthropy ventures, Morris never forgets to enjoy life. At 93, he still has a passion for horseback riding, sailing, skiing, scuba diving, traveling, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.A MOSAIC OF ISRAEL|75 UNSUNG HEROS'
